NATIONAL HISTORY MUSEUM


The National Museum of Mongolia is located in the capital city. The Museum is a cultural, scientific and educational organization, which is responsible for the collection, conservation and interpretation of the objects under its curation.The museum offers the richest collection on the history of Mongolia, from Stone Age to modern times. It helps to understand the unique culture and lifestyle of the horse riding steppe nomads. The exhibition contains military equipment and arms of Chinggis Khaan era, anthropological and archeological artifacts. The ground floor displays the cultural items related Mongolia, the ger, farming implements, horse saddles, musical instruments, and some exhibits related to Buddhism. The second floor is contains the traditional costumes and head-gears from the various minority groups of Mongolia. The third floor houses mainly historical photos, documents, etc. The large modern sculpture outside the museum is a memorial for the victims of the 1930s political repression."This museum will make you appreciate the Mongolian history, culture, traditions and their progress over the years, it explains the journey of the Mongols from the great Ghengis / Chinggis Khan to Soviet rule to the current Democratic rule."  July 2014, Mclean from Virginia
