Five Mongolians to compete in 15th International Tchaikovsky Competition

The 15th International Tchaikovsky Competition will be held in Moscow and Saint Petersburg, Russia from June 15 to July 3.
State Honored Artist G.Ariunbaatar, soloist of the State Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet Ch.Enkhtaivan, O.Khurelbaatar, B.Batjargal, and vocalist of the Mongolian Military Song and Dance Academic Ensemble Ch.Badral will compete in the vocal category of this year’s competition from Mongolia.
O.Khurelbaatar and Ch.Badral won second and third place of the 25th Glinka International Vocal Contest, named after Russian composer M.I.Glinka, in 2014.
Soloist of the State Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet D.Amartuvshin won second place at the 14th International Tchaikovsky Competition in 2011.
This year, the competition is dedicated to the 175th anniversary of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky.
The competition in Moscow will be for vocalists and violinists, and St. Petersburg will be for pianists and cellists.
The 2015 event will be structured into the five categories of piano, violin, cello and male and female vocal, said Russian Deputy Prime Minister Olga Golodets.
The competition will be the 15th since it was launched on a four-year rotation by Russia’s government and its culture ministry for just the piano and the violin in 1958. The program was extended to include cellists in 1962. A vocal section was added in 1966.
